Cat Summers, PhD

I am an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Michigan-Flint's School of Management. By applying micro-level organizational behavior theories and tools to macro-level sustainability issues, my mixed-methods research develops and defines leadership for social and environmental sustainability. 

My research falls into two streams: 1) unveiling the hidden or unintentional organizational and systemic barriers for social and environmental good, and 2) investigating how leaders overcome those barriers. 

Prior to joining UM-Flint, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan's Erb Institute. I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Virginia's Convergent Behavioral Science Initiative, jointly hosted by the School of Engineering and Darden Business School. Before that, I worked for almost a decade in environmental non-profits, managing corporate donors and working with campaigners on award-winning community projects like #SaveTheBees. I am currently part of the Impact Scholar Community leadership team. In my spare time, you will find me outside with my dog.
